Essential Tools

Maintaining your own bike in a home workshop can add to the enjoyment of owning it. As well as the advanced tools used by the professionals, the Cyclo range includes a selection of basic tools that are perfect for keeping your own bike running smoothly.

Sprocket Remover

This workshop quality chain whip gives leverage on the cogs without slipping - the extra-long handle allows the user to apply extra leverage.

  • Cushioned handle for comfort and ease of use
  • Heat-treated to prevent flexing and bending

Cotterless Crank Extractors

High quality extractors designed to remove cranks from standard and Shimano splined oversized bottom brackets.

  • Cushioned handle for comfort
  • Workshop quality

Chain Extractors and Wear Indicators

It’s important to make sure that your chain is well maintained - a worn chain should be replaced before it begins to wreck the rest of the parts.

A Cyclo chain extractor is ideal for replacing or repairing damaged chains - and a chainwear indicator lets you check everything is in proper working order.

  • High quality materials and engineering

Pedal Spanners

A good quality pedal spanner is an essential that no workbench should be without. Cyclo produce a number of such tools for both the professional and consumer markets, each coming with its own innovative design features.

  • Workshop quality

Allen Keys

Nearly all modern bikes are fitted with socket headed screws, not bolts. In order to carry out safety checks and adjust your seat and stem, you’ll need a set of Cyclo Allen Keys.

  • Chrome vanadium workshop quality
  • Holder forms T-bar handle
  • Ball-ended to reach into awkward places
  • Comprehensive range of sizes

Spoke Adjuster

Make sure that your spokes are properly tightened - doing so can help extend the life of your wheels.

  • Available in a new easily used shape
  • Precision made

Cone Spanners

Loose hub cones are a common cause of wheel rattles. You can easily check for loose cones by simply holding the top of your wheel and trying to move it from side to side. If the rim moves and the hub axle doesn't, then it’s likely that the cones are loose. You can double check by taking the wheel out and trying to wobble the axle - you'll be able to feel any looseness.

Cones are very narrow and you’ll need a thin cone spanner to tighten them. The Cyclo range includes several such spanners, in a variety of sizes.

  • 2.5mm chrome vanadium for durability and strength
  • Cushioned handles for comfort

Torque Wrench

Today's bikes may be tough, but they're held together by fasteners that mustn't be stressed. Many parts come with recommended torque settings - breach these and you may void your warranty.

Torque wrenches - such as those produced by Cyclo - can ensure that nuts are tightened in accordance with the manufacturers' recommendations thus avoiding undue mechanical stress and distortion.

  • Micrometer type adjustment sleeve allows precise torque values to be set
  • Supplied in a protective storage case

Remover Spanner

If you don’t have a vice on your workbench, then use the Cyclo remover spanner with your Remover and extractors.

  • Laser cut to ensure total accuracy
  • Hardened and tempered for extra strength
  • Long length allows for increased leverage

Ask the Doc

Ask the Doc Questions & Answers thumbnail
Why are there so many different types of puncture repair kits?

Inner tube widths and pressures vary. On high pressure inner tubes the narrow profile repair kit would be more appropriate than an 'Airtite' kit, for example. Also, some of the kits have tools included and become more or less complete roadside repair kits.

When should you use a torque wrench?

You need to use a torque wrench when you tighten most bolts & nuts in your bike. The relevant torque settings should be available from your bike manufacturer.

What are the advantage of nylon tyre levers over steel?

Cyclo nylon tyre levers have glass fibre in them so they are very strong. They are lighter than steel and don't damage the wheel rims even if they are alloy.
